Curried Sirloin Steaks with Mango Relish
Instructions
  1. Wipe the steaks over with damp paper towel. Trim fat if desired. Mix together the olive oil, curry powder, chili flakes and salt in a small bowl. Rub well into the surface of the steaks on both sides. Place chutney in a suitable bowl. Take all to barbecue area.
At the barbecue
  1. Prepare barbecue for direct-heat cooking. Heat coals to medium hot. Preheat gas barbecue to high and turn to medium before placing steaks on the barbeque.
  2. Brush steaks with oil and curry mixture and place on well-oiled grill bars. Cook for half the desired cooking time (10-12 minutes for medium rare, 13-15 minutes for medium). Brush with oil curry mixture and turn to complete cooking.
  3. Grill the endive (witlof) for 2-3 minutes each side, brushing with oil and curry mixture as they cook. Serve steaks topped with chutney and the endive (witlof).
